| About The Purbeck Press.
Thank you for logging on to our web site.
The Purbeck Press was formed in 1930. Until then it was known as E
D Harrison & Son. On the retirement of Mr Harrison, the remaining
partner, Francis Arthur Parish, changed the name of the firm to The
Purbeck Press. It continued in his ownership until 1969 when it was
aquired by two friends Graham Jordan and Jim Farrer.
What was essentially a letterpress printers was modernised with new
presses, typesetting equipment and expansion of the shop and a move
of the printing works into larger and more modern premises next door.
In February 1999 Graham Jordan retired and the business is now in
the sole ownership of Jim Farrer.
The Purbeck Press consists of a medium sized retail stationery shop
(see Stationery) and a printing works.
Last year Jim was joined in the business by his wife Ann and, when
time permits, sons Andy and Mark.
We consider ourselves fortunate to run a business in an area of such
outstanding natural beauty. The beach is no more than 75 yards
from the shop, whilst the office enjoys views of the sea and hills.
If you don't see exactly what you want please either phone or email
